Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center (JRRMMC) was established more than 75 years ago. It began as a children's hospital in a school building in the northern part of Pasig City. The formerly named City Children's Hospital was managed by Dr. Fe del Mundo, famously known as the inventor of the bamboo incubator.

Years later, it was transformed into an emergency hospital to serve wounded soldiers during the Battle of Manila in 1945. As the hospital adjusted to meet the people's needs, it faced a series of changes. From its initial location in Pasig City, it was moved to Manila and renamed in honor of its long-serving director, Dr. Jose Reyes.

Now, the Jose Reyes Medical Center is involved in a different battle—the fight against coronavirus. For its efforts during the pandemic, the esteemed medical center received the COVID-19 Response Service Award. JRRMMC currently serves as the flagship hospital of the Department of Health (DOH).

### Upgraded Facilities

Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center is one of the country’s premier government hospitals, built to meet every Filipino's needs. The hospital also boasts a 450-bed capacity and several top-notch departments, from dermatology and dentistry to surgery and neurology. One factor that sets the hospital apart from others is its affordability. The medical center works to provide quality healthcare for every Filipino without alienating the less fortunate. No facility can express this goal better than the Malasakit Center. It was launched in 2018 by the DOH to provide various government services in one place. Instead of traveling to the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Department of Social Welfare and Development, or Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office to request financial assistance, patients can do it all in a single location.
