The history of Fe Del Mundo Medical Center (FDMMC) began in 1957. Unlike other hospitals that started as a clinic, Dr. Fe Del Mundo established a medical center right from the get-go. She named the medical institution Children’s Memorial Hospital. It had a capacity of 107 beds and was designed to cater to kids’ medical needs. The hospital also served as a training ground for aspiring medical practitioners.

Years later, Dr. Del Mundo conferred the medical center to Dr. Fe Del Mundo Medical Center Foundation Philippines, Inc, dedicated to the founder. Eventually, the hospital changed its name to Children’s Medical Center Philippines.

### Developments

In 1966, the hospital established the Institute of Maternal and Child Health to improve and expand its pediatric and maternal services. The institute was also the center for public health programs where doctors, nurses, and paramedical personnel did their clinical clerkships. Later, the medical center also opened the Institute of Community and Family to continue Dr. Del Mundo's vision.

Forty years after it first opened its doors, the medical center officially became a general hospital equipped to treat patients of all ages.

It was not until 2002 when the institution was renamed Fe Del Mundo Medical Center to honor its esteemed founder and reflect its wide array of medical services.
